loosening chrome plated faucet aerators, how?

Soft jaw pliers? Pipe pliers with plastic insets in the jaws?
Craftsman makes little booties to put on any pliers but I'd think these would come off.

All I ever do is to wrap a rag around it; make sure it dosen't require a key.
