I am installing a Jacuzzi Espree 6032 Drop-in tub. The tiled deck around the tub will end up having about 4 to 5 inches of exposed tile. The filler is a Kohler Forte roman tub filler. Is there a preferred location for the filler? I've seen it located on the tub and I've also seen it mounted directly to the deck. Any opinions or experience with this would be greatly appreciated.

I have had to do both, and feel that installing the spout on the
tub is your best choice
the tile is an absolute pain to mess with ,
drilling a hole through the tile is bad enough,
then having to rheem out a 2x4 under the apron is
another nightmare...
On tile, when you tighten down the spout you really cant
tighten it too much without risking cracking that tile
you just drilled a hole through.
and that itle could crack in a few months from now from stress
just to piss you off right when you think you are totally through
with that project

if the tub is acrylic and you are going to install the filler on the tub you should put a piece of 3/4" plywood under the mounting spot to give the filler some support.
