We recently converted to public sewers after years of using a septic tank. It appears that the cast iron pipe that connects to the sewer is damaged. Most likely it's cracked, water is coming back into the basement. When we used the septic system the toilet was the only thing connected to it, the gray water went elsewhere. The pipe is probably damaged under the front porch which which can't be accessed. I have a field stone foundation. What is the most economical way to correct this?

pipe

Now, how would we ever be able to answer that question without seeing the job AND determining exactly what the problem is? You have to call a local plumber to get an evaluation, and it will normally not be a "free" estimate.

hmmm.... just thinking about what you said... if it can't be accessed how can it be fixed? My thoughts are "there is no economical way to do it"... if you can't access it then it can't be fixed....

He must mean no existing access. So access must be created, which is rarely susceptible to being done economically.
