I have a Legend 550 1/4 turn sill cock. When I "open" the valve a few drops of water comes out and thats it!

I do not have a shutoff valve in the house and had the hose disconnected before 1st freeze.

Plumbing company wants $275 to replace the valve. (Part sells for $41)

My question is: how can I disassemble the valve to look at/replace it?

Thanks in advance!

Joe

The usual way these valves are connected to screw them into a female adapter that is teed off of the water supply line. You must get to connection point, use two wrenches, and remove the old valve. The new one connects in reverse. Do not try to sneak by with one wrench. You will twist the supply line. I am not familiar with the brand you have, but you can get a very good new valve for less than you say parts will cost. Seems like a pretty steep price for the plumber, but I guess that's why I do these kinds of petite jobs myself.
