After 20 years our sump pump is in need of replacement. The pump is a Hydromatic SP-25A (1/4 h.p.) with diaphragm switch. We are inclined to replace it with the closest equivalent pump now available.

The two Hydromatic models that seem closest are the D-A1 and the SD-33. The latter is about $100 more expensive.

The specs & performance data are very close. The differences are:
.3 h.p. vs 1/3
8.0 full load amps vs. 10.0
23 lbs. vs. 30
Cast iron sleeve Upper Bearing vs. Brass iron sleeve
Ball bearing Lower Bearing vs. Single Row Ball Bearing

If paying more gets us closer to another 20 years of service, I'm inclined to spend the money. Is this a no brainer or will the D-A1 be sufficient?

FYI, the sump size is 16"x16"x23".

Thanks.

Thanks for your response.

I forgot to mention that this sump is connected to a trench drain at the bottom of a driveway leading to a basement garage. So it definitely gets a workout when it rains.

I will proceed with getting the SD-33.
