Shower Pipe Replacement

The shower in our new home was apparently designed for the Keebler Elves. I was hoping to get an 's' shaped pipe that put the shower head a little higher up, but I don't want it to become too big of a job just yet. (The bathroom will probably be remodeled in a few years anyway.) Can I replace the shower pipe without removing any of the tile in the shower? Do I just unscrew it from the wall? I'm worried about damaging some pipes behind the wall.

Any advice for this new homeowner would be appreciated.

if the shower pipe is in the wall, and you want to raise it,

most likely it will be pretty difficult especially

if it is galvanized pipe.....very mean indeed escpeially

if you dont have access from the back side of the unit


if you are doing a major remodel in the near future

might I suggest just installing a shower hanger bracket on the

wall at the desired height then just installing a hand held

type shower with the hose attachment and just attach it to the arm

comming out of the wall. It would hang in the bracket that it comes with

and work well as a higher shower till you finally re-model
