need a plug for a thermostatic valves bottom outlet

Don't see 1/2 NPT, stupid question... Is 1/2 MIP the same thing?

Of course. 1/2" national pipe thread is 1/2" IPS, as is 1/2" MIP.

NPT= national pipe thread
MIP= male iron pipe
FIP=female iron pipe.

all use the same threads, at lest here in t he USA
