For one of the toilets in our house, the rough-in measures 11 inches from the wall. Can I just install a standard 12" toilet there or do I need to get one with a smaller rough-in or get an adaptor?

It depends on the specific toilet you select. All toilets are designed to have at least a little room behind the tank to the wall when installed on the specified rough-in. One of the highly regarded toilets here (I put two in my mother's house) is the Toto Drake. This normally has about 1-1/8" behind it, so it would just fit in your situation. Those I have in my house (also Toto models) only have 3/4" behind them, so they would NOT fit. You need to look at the specification sheets, but I do think you'd like the Drake, if you should choose that.

I agree you should check the specifications on the toilet you like.

I was just checking today and recommended the Drake to a customer as well, but i rechecked the specification sheet and the round front only has a 3/4" gap.

CST743 round front 3/4" gap
CST744 Elongated 1-1/8" gap
CST744L ADA elongated 1-1/4" gap

10" Toto Drake toilets.
They only need 9-1/4" to install.

Comfort height, elongated bowl with either the 1.28 gallon Watersense Eco Flush
or the 1.6 gallon G-Max flush.

TOTO now has a 10" dual flush at the factory.
I'm bringing some here for the Seattle area.
