The plumbing company installed the manifold up in the attic b/c that is where the hot water heater is. However, while they have installed a drip tray and drip line to the outside for the HWH, they are not doing anything for the manifold. Should we be concerned about leakage as we would have no idea until a real problem existed up there?

Is it a PEX manifold¿ If it is send us some pictures as it could be a PEX manufacturer that has been riddled with failures in their fittings and in rare cases the tubing of one manufacturer also fails.

manifold

I said it SHOULD NOT. IF your brothers is leaking it is because he has a bad one or it was installed wrong, and that is not a common issue which would require the installation of a safety pan.
