Damage to CSST jacket

What are the consequences of slight nicks in the jacket on my TracPipe? I'm also trying to figure out why Omegaflex silicone tape is worth $40 a roll. http://www.downriversupply.com/browseItemsSel.php?in=48725
Do you folks know of a cheaper solution? Do I even need to worry about a nick the size of a BB?

The yellow pipe wrap is to let people know it's gas.

I doubt a small speck missing is enough to prevent people from seeing the rest of the wrapping.

You strip the covering at the connections anyway.

In that case, I don't think I'll worry about repairing the jacket. Thanks!
