Korky 528T for 1.28?

Is the Korky 528T fill valve a suitable replacement on 1.28 gallon Toto models?

What is the difference if any between the korky 528 (white cap) and the 528T (blue cap)? I under stand that the t probably stands for toto but it is not available at lowes so I bought the white cap model that says it works with all toilets. Just curious if there will be any problems installing it in a Toto Ultramax. Thanks for any clarification.

Korky adjusts the balance of bowl to tank fill rates to Toto's specifications to ensure very little water goes down the drain and the bowl and tank both fill up at the same time. From what I've read, the generic version fills the tank faster and the bowl will be deficient. This will lead to a bad flush, since it doesn't start with the right amount of water in the bowl. They substitute a different restrictor to force more water to the bowl (by slowing the fill rate to the tank), and when the tank is full, so is the bowl.

You might be able to extract the restrictor from an old one and put it in the generic valve to customize it.

Okay, not exactly sure which piece the restrictor is. Is it the white filter that is shoved up the tube? Perhaps the cap that connects to the fill tube? I have the original taken apart and the new white cap model is installed. The bowl line in about 1/4 inch below the previous line but the unit seems to flush okay.

I was having issues with a leak from underneath the toilet from the fill valve. I guess I will see how the plain 528 does and if the flush performance is degraded greatly I will switch it to the 528t. If there is a difference it must be with the ports on the bottom of the fill valve because I could see no difference between the other parts.
