My question is I have to redo the bathroom in my house. I have no problem with this job except the fact that we will be without a toilet for a week till this job is done. I would like to install a toilet in the basement to use temporarily in place of living in a hotel. There is a 4'' cleanout available that is 10 1/4" from the wall, and has a water source near by. There will have to be a platform built to give the clearence needed which is no problem, the one concern I have is the distance from the stack itself, will this work till we get the job done or should we just book a room.
Any advice offered would be highly appreciated.

Several years ago I had to do some drain work and was without a drain for awhile. I rented a Porta Potty and set it in my garage. We still had to dispose of the gray water from washing, but it wasn't too much problem. It was winter and going to the potty in the cold garage made it seem like living in the country in the olden day!

If this is a DIY job, you had better double that number and move to the next larger unit of measure: two (2) months!

If this is not a DIY job, maybe you contractor can help you assess that possibility ... but either way, I would likely test it for a few days before tearing up the regular bathroom.

Thanks for your advice

Gentlemen, I appreciate your advice, all the fixtures are in and everything is ready to go except changing the toilet waste pipe from lead to pvc and tiling the floor. So maybe a hotel may be the answer.
