Concealed brass to ABS tub drain connection

I have a brass tub drain (1925 or so vintage) that works just fine but extends from the second floor tub into the area between the ceiling joists for the first floor. Can I use a compression connection for connecting the ABS drain pipes (trap etc.) to the brass. It will not really be accessible. If not, what do I do?

You can use a slip joint coupling there.
