Large PVC Valves

Is there any way to ease the operation of two 1 1/2" PVC Ball Valves? They are used for my swimming pool sump and skimmer. I am afraid I will eventually break the ears off the valves, it takes two hands to open and close them. Changing them will be a major job with only room for one change.

some of them can be disassembled, when you do you can lubricate the ball with some good silicone faucet grease.

Install True-Union valves with socket welds.

What Rat said. Try to get them apart and lubricate them, Vasalene works for a while. PVC ball valves suck. Especially the ones on sewage ejection pumps. When they won't close, you know you'r in for a fun afternoon.

I have never seen a non-union PVC ball valve which could be disassembled. Use true union ball valves with unions on both sides and they can be repaire or replaced very easily.

I guess this is another of many cases where I must go back an do the job right the SECOND time. How much money did the installer save by using the standard ball valves?????
