replace tub spigot

slip-on spigot w/diverter on fiberglass shower/tub broke where plastic insert fastened to fiberglass wall; someone said this was an old Moen type; 1/2 inch copper tubing sticks out of wall 3 1/2 inches beyond fiberglass; is it possible to get a new slip on that will accomodate this length of pipe; i prefer not to cut the copper tubing.

Yes. You should be able to remove that plastic component and slip another tub spout back on the copper piping.
