Putting in a new tub/shower, can't decide on tub faucet.
Wanted to use a delta faucet, but want one with the volume control. Seems these new ones run about $180.00
Found a source that has the old style $60.00 (ball type stem without press. balance or scald guard.)
Been very happy with this type in my other bathroom. Easy to work on and easy to get parts.
With a whole bathroom remodel I don’t want to go cheap on something that will be there for years. But these old one seem to have been a great faucet and I don’t really care about scald guard.
Only drawback I can think of is if the parts get hard to get lets say 20 years from now.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Dinosaurs in the future

Code requires protection from temperature changes.

The old valves, even if you find them, are going to be dinosaurs in the future when it's time for replacement parts.

A Delta R10000 rough valve , plus 1700series trim will not run $180.

valve

Why would you want to go CHEAP on the one thing that has to last until the next time you remodel? Use the Delta 1700 series and you do not have to worry about trying to repair it and twisting the valve apart when the cap turns out to be stuck.
