I was replacing my old sink and vanity and when I went to attach the supply line the pipe from the wall crumbled apart. I tried to use the remaing thread at the end of the pipe but it won't screw on any tighter. However there is still a small gap of broken pipe. Will a waterproof epoxy work or will I have to get this pipe replaced. It only has about 1/2" extending beyond the wall so if the pipe needs to be replaced, the wall needs to be cut open too! Please give me some advice. ASAP

I'd be more concerned about when removing the nipple that the threads on the other end don't break off on their respective fitting. Then it's cut the wall time if they do break off.
If you're concerned about the wall, chisel out around the pipe a little. Caulking can seal it back up afterwards.

It's not great to use galvanized pipes, but they were common a long time ago. Unfortuneately, they sometimes get used during replacment.

If there's not much room for a pipe wrench to try to remove that, you could get an inside pipe wrench. They aren't particularly expensive. Once you get it out, assuming it comes out with the rest intact, measure it, then go get a brass nipple the length of the original - that won't rust and will outlive you. But, the pipes IN the wall may have similar problems. To install the new piece, you'll need to use teflon tape, pipe dope, or both. Hassle is, with a small hole, you won't be able to see inside the wall to tell if you got it tight and there are no leaks, so...it might be best to open the wall some and evaluate what's there, then fix it.

The outside end of the pipe broke off because it had the brass valve screwed to it. If the pipe in the wall is not brass it should come out. If it is then that end may be eroded also, but there may not be enough left to cause a problem when you screw the new nipple into it.
