Hello,
I just installed a new Toto Guinevere and I am having a very frustrating problem. I think I have narrowed it down to a flapper issue. here is the problem and what I have done. After I flush, I hear a drip...drip (this is after the bowl seeks it own level. I have already learned to deal with the plastic unifit trap sounds) and ultimately the tank level drops causing the fill valve to kick in and refill the tank. If I turn off the water supply, the tank will drain down to the rim of the flapper seat, which will take about 2 hours. I called Toto and they sent me a new flapper, which I installed. Unfortunately the new flapper is doing the same exact thing. Due to the fact that the water does not drain below the rim of the flapper seat, I feel the seat/overflow tube seal is ok. I run my finger around the rim of the seat and I do not feel anything, but I did ask Toto to send me a replacement just in case.
If I giggle the handle to make the flapper move a little, I can get the drips to stop.
My question is, how can I resolve this issue? I am not sure what else to do. I understand the mechanics of a flapper are not an exact science, but I can't believe a $700 toilet is so problematic.
Also, not sure if this is related, but I notice that the swing of the lever always causes the flapper to be pulled forward, so when the flapper drops it is not exactly centered over the rim of the seat. It just seems like a bad design.
Thanks
-Joe
