Just got delivery of my Hansgrohe shower parts, and I have a question about mounting the valve. It is a Thermobalance II, you install the "rough-in" first and add the thermo-cartridge and trim after everything is all finished.

There doesn't seem to be any way of mounting this thing to my framing. I was imagining some sort of ears with holes so I could screw it to some blocking between the studs, but there is nothing like that on the valve. About all I can think of is to strap down the pipes that attach to it, but it doesn't seem right to me?

Holes in the rough may seem like the best solution, but you don't always have room for backing behind the valve. Strapping the piping is a good way to secure the valve, and to prevent the pipes from making noise when you turn the water on and off.
