So I bought Viega fostapex line in 1/2" and 3/4" and viega fittings. I have been trying to decide what to do about the tools. I can rent a nice Viega set for $25/day or attempt to buy my own kit. I found a Zurn crimp set but I'm not sure if it's proper to use on Viega parts. Are there universal crimpers? Is Viega completely proprietary?

get a pro press, do it all:)
If you can rent a propress fro $25/day then do it. Only plan to buy the tool if you expect to use it for future work since it will set you back at least $1,700. I happen to think it's the best system out there.
