The pressure switch started to go off and on constantly,I shut the pump off and went and got a new switch. After i installed it the pump did the same thing,I then drained the water out of it and made sure the tank was not waterlogged,I put air back into it and turned the pump back on.I have it set for 50/30..Now the problem is when I run the water the pressure drops right down to 0,When I turn the water off the pump will go back to 60lbs but takes along time..Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated Thanks in advance... Doug

Your pump was short cycling or you have a serious leak or bad foot valve if you have a jet pump or check valve if the pump is in the well. Since the pressure does not rise very quickly, that can be caused by a leak, probably in teh drop pipe down the well or from the well to the house.

You need 1-2 psi less air pressure in the tank, with no water in it, than the turn on the pump switch setting. That would be 29-28 for your 30/50 settings (on/off).

If you have a jet pump, the tubing to the switch and the fittings it attaches to may be blocked preventing the switch from seeing pressure changes in real time; in other words lagging.

Thanks

I changed my main line and foot valve..Everything is working great Thanks Gary
