Consumer Reports August 2005 issue just rated these two gravity toilets as very good for solid waste removal, cleaning, and noise.

Any experience out there?

Looks like the Eljer is 2 inches taller than the Toto Drake & Ultramax, so this could be problem for shorter folks.

I just noticed a lot of negative comments about the AS Champion Toilet that are posted on Terry's Toilet review Page.

Don't know if Consumer Reports is way off base or this toilet has been re-designed.

Eljer

I have an eljer in my own house,
they are pretty good all in all
with a full two inch trap going through them
and you can also change out the flapper
from 1.5 to a full 3 gal flush
to make it really roar out if youi so wish..

they have common --easy to find parts.....

now the american standard, I dont think it
could take hamster droppings down without
stopping up...
or leaking out of that stupid little
vent hole in the back side of the bowl...

they seem to be having trouble in our town finding
any supply house who wants to carry that line ....

The Titan is their attempt of a Toto Drake copy.

Everyone is chasing Toto right now, changing the design of their toilets.

Eljer Titan has a 3" flush valve with a 2-1/8" trapway.
Flush is good.
It can leave small particles.
The Vacuity did that too.
Big stuff goes down fine.
Noise level is similar to the other 3" flush valve toilets.
The Titan is equal to others in assembly ease.

The Champion is harder to install than others.
Parts in the tank have been glitchy.
There have been noise complaints.

With eljer chasing the Toto design, does Toto allow to change out the flapper
from 1.5 to a full 3 gal flush?

Master Plumber Mark was talking about the common 2" flush valve Eljers.

The Titan is a brand new toilet that uses a 3" flapper, I doubt that anyone else has seen one. I'll put some pictures I took of it on my site this week.

With the Titan and the Toto and the Cimarron, you can hold the handle down longer to drop more water. Not that it's needed though.

Tinkering with a 1.6 flush toilet to make it use 3 gallons does not usually improve the flush. The flush action is initiate by the initial inflow of water, either a siphon jet or rim jet; but if the flush didn't go, adding more water may not help.
