Greetings from a first-time poster:
I have a gray Toto Carolina one-piece elongated lo-rise that was installed new in 2000. About three years ago it developed clearing problems overnight, having to be flushed two or three times. After numerous cleanings and rotating of the flapper gasket (like that would help), I finally removed the toilet, flipped it over and found a bowl freshener disk wedged near the main water outlet (reaching for the correct term here...). Apparently it had been swallowed during a flush but had never dissolved. Problem solved, don't use those things anymore.
It started doing it again 4 months back. As far as I know, nothing has been in the bowl or the tank to get swallowed. I don't have deviant kids trying to flush trains, army men and Barbie dolls down the thing. Doesn't make them not deviants I'll grant you, but I don't think that's the problem here. With the double-flushing, I mean.
I replaced the original Toto flush valve with a Korky 528 about 3 months ago, and it seemed to fix the prob for about 2 weeks, then it started again. The tank fill is around 1/2 inch from the top of the overflow, and the black tube is putting water into the bowl. The unit doesn't drain and cycle, so the flapper would seem fine. Water pressure in the lines also appears fine: we're on a well and it cycles between around 30-65 psi.
So, do Totos do this over time, or did I miss something? We don't seem to have calcium, but there is some iron and copper in the water. Other 2 non-brand toilets work fine. Don't wanna yank it up if there's something else.
