Hi Folks,

I have just installed a new bathtub, drain and ventpipe. This is a 22" deep jacuzzi bathtub and when it drains, it makes a very loud slurping sound... sucking for air I guess.

Most posting on this subject recommend cleaning the drains, though all of this is new... The sound is coming from the drain overflow where the drain switch is.

Any thoughts? thanks!

slurp

That sound is the one I use to determine if the drain is working properly. It is caused by the water flowing so rapidly that it is sucking air down the overflow pipe. If it is objectionable, you have to slow the flow down by closing the drain opening, not making it larger.
