Terry, I lucked out and found your forum and hope you can answer my question. I need to know the best toilet to get for my Mom. She continuely puts in too much paper and has clogged up her toilet 3 times in the past week. She is 80, has had a stroke and hates change. She does not want a handicap toilet. What I want is to get the best toilet that can handle lots of paper and flushing. What I do not want is a toilet that splashes back when you flush. I do not want to aerosal all the stuff that should be going down the drain. I am out of time and tired of cleaning or else I would try and research this on my own. So I am seeking your very knowlagable advice. Thank you!!!

The ADA Drake, or any Drake, is a really decent toilet. The extra inch or so in height on the ADA means it can flush just that little extra bit (the water falls further, just like a water tower, it adds pressure). you don't have to tell her it is an ADA rated toilet. If she is really petite, then I'd probably just go with the standard Drake. But if she doesn't have trouble touching the floor on a standard kitchen chair, she won't on the ADA height toilet. once you get used to it, that extra inch or so makes getting up as you get older just that much easier...

The Caroma has a large trapway that is almost imposable to clog...I have sold quite a few to people who have had problems with large stools...it will also take care of large amts. of paper...

Totos are good also but don't have the large trapway...I installed 6 in a church that has about 400 people every Sunday, 3 or 4 years ago, and they might have had 1 clog since then...like one of my customers said to me once

" WoW...now I can cancel my trash pick up...everything we put in it goes down.":D

There are virtually no reports on this forum of any model of Toto clogging except when someone tries to flush something like a cell phone.:D As far as ADA is concerned, as already noted, as we get older most of us really appreciate the added height of ADA. It isn't like being on a high stool, it's just like a dining room chair. It's amazing what a difference a slightly higher seat can make!

Thanks everyone. A local supply store is trying to sell me a Gerber ultra flush. Any ideas...?

Thanks for saving me!! In your expert opinion, what toilet would you recommend?

Terry, you are a life saver. I can not thank you enough. I will find a Toto Drake with CEFIONTECT CST744SG in Shreveport, LA. I can now scratch looking for the perfect toilet off my to do list. Thanks for such a wonderful, helpful forum.
