View Full Version : PEX expansion loops & droops vs need to drain the line?

The fact that you need to leave expansion space with PEX seems to mean that sloping it for drainage would be a problem.

Does anyone have a method? Do you just install a lot of drain valves throughout the run?

I also wonder about well water sediment accumulating in the low spots over the years.

Run it straight and let the expansion take place at the turns/corners.

What about the stretches between Tees ?

How long of a run are you talking about?

All the tees are at the tail of the main run, and go out between the joists. So no more than about few feet between each tee, for the most part.

main run from water tank
----------->> tee to clothes washer
----------->> tee to bathtubs (two risers so one tee in this line)
----------->> tee to toilets (two risers so one tee in this line)
----------->> tee to lav
----------->> tee to other lav
to outdoor hose bib, which drains the line

And I just realized that I can't drain the hot because it doesn't go to a hose bib... maybe I should install a connection to the end of the cold line with a 3 way valve.
