JUst helped my brother in law replace his leaking pump with yes I am sorry a flotech. After replacement was complete the pump is only holding 20psi. We did the priming exercise twice to be sure. What can be causing this and is that normal?

That's not much information. Tell us about the well, the water level, is it shallow well or deep well? A picture is worth a thousand words.

With a Flotec you won't have to worry about getting out of practice installing.

Plugged nozzle!

It's almost always a plugged nozzle that causes a jet pump not to build over 20 lbs. pressure regardless of the make. Locate the jet assembly (on the pump or in the well), remove the venturi (long tube) then remove the nozzle (probably using a 3/4" long socket), clean out the debri in the nozzle, clean any loose debri from the nozzle, then put it back together and reinstall it. This should solve the problem. Be aware that this may take several times before it will be free of debri.
