I had a leaking retention tank, found it late on a saturday, the only replacement tank I could find was at a local big box home store. So to stop the leaking I installed a diaphram tank. Now, the system always has air in it. I can hear air comeing in to the tank, when the pump starts, and then I can hear it travel thru the whole system. It sounds the same as before, except the air that came in never left the tank in the old system. The old system had a pressure tank and a retention tank. I took the plug off of the top of the ret. tank and you can see a water line about a foot down. I figure the air that got pumped into the old system rose to the top of the ret. tank and did not get pushed thru the system, now with a diaphram tank, it seems the air has nowhere to go except thru the rest of the system. Now that the system works and does not leak I can spend time to get it right. I am considering adding a new retention tank to catch the air, but I am worried that the air getting pumped in, is a sign that the pump is bad or that there is a leak in the feed pipe. any thoughts?
