I just installed a new toto promenade and I'm a little unsure of it. I haven't connected the water yet because of the way the tank is sitting on the bowl. It didn't appear to go on very smoothly because of the rubber gasket and I had to do some serious screwing on to bolt it down. Is this normal? I'll try to take a picture and post it later. I read Terry's install instructions and they were good but the final step is leaving me worried.

You positive the taper on the gasket is facing down into the bowl and it is seated properly over the collar? Does the tank touch the bowl or is it sitting up on the gasket and you can see between the bowl and tank. You don't want the porcelain on porcelain to be tight, but you can get is so it is almost touching (or actually touching, but I like to leave a paper thin gap).

Yeah, the taper is facing down into the bowl. When I put it on before tightening the bolts it was resting about 1-2 inches above the rim. I was kind of thinking that there would be less of a gap there. I mean it went away after tightening but I was still a bit unsure. I still haven't hooked it up yet but I plan on doing it over the weekend. Hopefully everything will be all right. Funny thing is there were more install instructions included with the seat cover than anything else.

I usually lean my forearm on the top of the tank and push down while tightening the tank to bowl bolts. It helps!
