Hello
I have a terrible stink like sewer smells that periodically erupts sometimes it comes through the vents when the furnace is on and often comes about during washing clothes. I thought perhaps there was some sort of filter that needs to be changed somewhere???

There are no filters. The most likely source of the odor is from a trap in a seldom-used drain that has dried out. This could be a shower or a floor drain. If you have such a drain, try pouring a quart or so of water in it to refill the trap. When a drain is seldom used, the water in the trap evaporates and that allows the sewer smell to come through it.

OFten it comes from the point where the air conditioning condensate drain is connected to the sewer system, especially if it usually occurs when the furnace is running.
