soldering rough in valve

when soldering a rough in shower valve, do all the "guts" have to be removed to avoid damage?

Some will say no, if you keep the heat off the valve. I always remove the guts because I just don't want to take the chance. Beside it only takes a minute.

I'm sure I could do it!
But then why tempt fate...
I take the guts out just to make sure there is no loss of profit!

does that include volume control valves also or just Thermo valves?

IF you have to ask, then you probably do not have the "touch" needed to do it without damaging the internals, so in your case the answer would be, "Yes, remove them".
