We just had our anode rod (to aluminum) and expansion tank replaced today as well as the tank drained and cleaned with bleach. We did this in response to these black specks we were experiencing that are best described like mascara. Smear when rubbed and are very hard to clean, in particular off plastic.
Anyway, we honestly expected this to resolve the issue, and perhaps it will after a few days. But when we ran the hot water throughout the house they still appeared and were even worse.
Is it normal after this kind of maintenance/replacement of parts to have more of these black things appear throughout the house initially? Is it possible that with the treatment done today that it's cleaning out the pipes that may have had these black things in them and that after a few days this will go away?
