Today I installed a new utility/laundry tub and in the process sweated in a few new sections of copper pipe. When I finished I turned the water back on and all was fine. No leaks and the faucet worked fine. The only trouble is that the hot water is slightly yellow but the cold water is crystal clear. I ran the hot water for 10 min or so full force with the aereator off thinking maybe there was some type of residue from the solder. Still the water is discolored. When I checked the water upstairs it too has the discolored hot water. Not sure if it matters but we had heavy rains yesterday. Could the water in the hot water tank be the problem? I am on the city water system. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Shutting off and bleeding of the pressure usually disturbs the system somewhat. Flush and it will return to normal.

It is possible that you water heater is on its way out and is rusting internaly...this can sometimes appear yellow.

It may have been that way and you just didn't notice it. It could also be sediment causing it and if it is it should stop at some point.
