ALL diaphragm switches have one basic flaw. They require that there be an opening to the atmosphere to allow for pressure differentials. That opening is usually a very small tube in the power cord. Being open means that moisture can get into it, and being small means that surface tension can make it immovable preventing the diaphragm from flexing and opeating the switch. When that happens the only way to operate the pump is to suck on the tube to turn it on and blow into it to turn it off.
