Need valve for PB pipe

I have gray, 1/2 PB pipe coming out of the wall in one of the bathrooms. The pipe supplies the toilet. The valve on the pipe is a crimp type with a plastic collar around the pipe and a metal sleeve inside the pipe.

I need to replace the shutoff valve because it does not shut off completely. Last weekend I had to replace the shutoff valves for a sink and found that nobody had valves for PB any more.

I had to call a plumber. He used PEX converters and PEX shutoffs. But he said I should be able to find a shutoff valve that will fit the PB.

Since then I bought a Viega crimper and fittings in case I have to replace any more hidden valves.

I still don't want to use PEX on the toilet because I don't want the fittings to show. I can't get into the wall without more work than needed.

Can anyone tell me where I can get the PB shutoff valve?

Thanks!
Ron

It look's from the pic that it is a 5/8 comp. stop. Go to your hardware store and ask for that.

Also you can leave compression nut on and install new valve to exsisting nut.

Is that copper or PB? it's really hard to see. Anyhoo, you probably won't have much luck finding a PB valve anymore. Can you cut it further back and union pex on to that? Is this in a Mobile Home?

PB, PEX, the same ID copper or galvanized etc. is all the same OD. QEST makes compression fittings of all types that will fit any of those materials; including valves. Lowe's, Home Depot, any plumbing or pump supply house or most hardware stores will have QEST fittings; they are dark gray compression.

PB Fittings

My problem appears to be the metal sleeve that slips into the pipe. Everything the stores sell is too small for PB.

I would transition to PEX and damn the look. Anything else will be substandard. There are sharkbite-like valves that can be used for PEX but if you try to use them with PB you won't be able to support the pipe internally. The plastic valves with the hex nuts are a heck of a lot uglier than transitioned pipe.
