My Am. Std. Cadet from 1975 has a crack in the bowl and I want to replace it with something in the same look. My aims are to keep the 1970's style and not need to modify the rough and screws already there. I was considering a modern Am. Std. Cadet 3. Would it have the same rough and bolts as an Am. Std. did in 1975?

Most rough-ins are at 12" from the back wall.
The newer toilets will work at 11-1/4" or better.

The standard rough-in hasn't changed for about 60 years.

AS toilets have become real dogs. Their quality control seems to be nonexistent. Few pros on this forum will install them because there are so many problems with them. I would suggest you look at the Toto line. Toto is the largest manufacturer of toilets in the world and not only is the quality control top notch, they perform exceptionally well no matter which model you select. Not all low flow toilets perform well. Many need frequent plunging, and many do not do a very good job of flushing. Unfortunately, many of the major brand names of the past tried to use old technology when the new low flow mandate come in and as a result are living on the past reputation. You can a link on the home page to take you to Terry's Report on Low Flow Toilets and to a complete listing of the Toto line.

The AS Cadet 3 is a great toilet. Not to be confused with many others in the AS range. See my post on it if you like.

Toto....not to be confused with the dog from the Wizard of Oz. Unfortunate name.

Ah just remember beauty is in the eye of the beholer and Ian....
Lets just say he bumps into a lot of things with his lawn mower...
