Hi,

I'm new here, hope it's ok to just ask question.

My shower started leaking the other day, and it leaks fast! I want to fix it, but don't know how. I took apart the handle hoping there would be some obvious seals to replace. Can anyone look at my pictures and tell me what I am dealing with?

BTW, it's a Moen!

Thanks!

Moen Posi-Temp

Pull off the chrome sleeve,
Pull up on the u-clip that holds the cartridge.

The cartridge will pull out.

Make sure you water is off first.

If you forget to turn the water off first, don't worry, you'll be reminded very quickly! I won't tell the story about how I know this to be true!:D

I took the clip off and can't pull out the cartridge. How hard should you have to pull? I'm afraid of damaging the pipes.

i got it!

The key is steady pressure when pulling.

it's a Moen 109272

I ended up getting the part at a plumbing store. It was free! They said that moen replacement cartridges are covered. It was a snap to put back together and I things are back to normal.

Thanks!

Moen cartridges

Yes, Moen will mail them to you directly as well. They have great customer service, which is the main reason I have standardized on them. The last time I had one of their cartridges fail, I just had them send me all new ones. Anytime I do a project like that, I just do all of them if they are roughly the same age.
