Pump for a new well

Hi,
We have a Well 600' deep, Static Water Level is 276'. The water pressure is 2gpm at 350', 6gpm at 400', 10 gpm at 500', and 12 gpm at 600 with perforations from 494' to 594'. We have decided that we atleast need a 300 gallon storage tank. Here are my questions:

1) How do I decide how deep the pump needs to be set? Do I use bigger HP pump and set it deeper or smaller HP pump closer to the top?
2) Do I want variable speed controler?
3) Does it matter if the pump is within the well pipe's perforation depth?
4) What is a good reliable submersible pump brand?
5) We are planning to use photovoltaic for the house, go off grid at summer times and do net metering during winters. Is there any PV friendly pump?
6) I would greatly appreciate it if someone could point me to a good web site or a book that would help me understand the basics.

A well does not produce pressure, a pump does. What you are stating is the gpm input to the well at various depths.

You total all those gpm figures up and that gives you the recovery rate of the well; not pressure. That's 30 gpm. On average your house is not going to be able to all that 30 gpm of water.

A 6" well has 1.47 gals of water per foot of water depth above the inlet of the (submersible) pump. So you don't need an additional storage tank of any size.

Any type pump, regular 240 vac or solar powered should be sized for and set at 10-20' off the bottom of the well IF you want to use all the water in the well, especially in drought conditions where that static water level of 276' will go much deeper.

You size a pump based on the peak demand gpm the building requires, at the total dynamic head (TDH) of the system from the deepest depth of the water level you expect in the well, including the elevation to the highest fixture in the building and the highest psi (30/50 etc., 50 would be used) that you want to use.

Pumps come in two parts, the gpm rating and the hp. You find the gpm you need at the TDH of the system AND THEN the horses (hp) needed to get the job done.

IOWs a X hp pump comes in many gpm ratings, at various TDH. Pump charts give you that data.

We are required by the City of Portland to place fire sprinklers in our house since we are in a fire zone. That means we have to be able to supply 30gpm for two sprinkler heads for up to 10 minutes! The 300 gallon storage tank was a by product of this requirement.
