I have removed old toilet and ceramic tile. My problem is that the closet flange does not sit on top of the new flooring. The drain is pvc. How can I remove the existing closet flange and replace it flush to the floor?

Separating PVC joints is not easy for a DIYer. Likely the simplest and quickest way is to cut the pipe and remove the old closet bend and flange. Then use new pieces to leave the flange resting on top of the finished floor. Be sure that you maintain the 1/4" per foot slope. Dry fit the pieces, and if you are still 1/4" too high, trim that much from the flange. There will still be plenty of flange inside the closet bend.
