Hi All,

A friend asked me to fix a broken trim ring around a lavatory sink. I've never seen a sink like this, not that I've seen that many. It's circular and fits flush with the vanity top, and it has a metal trim ring around it. The rim has a slit in it, through which water is leaking into the cabinet space below.

I couldn't find a brand name anywhere. Anybody familiar with this type of sink, and, if so, where might I find the trim ring? FWIW, the house was built in the 70's.

Thanks,
Lou

That is a common sink installation from the 70's. you most likely will have to pull the sink and reputty around ring. your better off getting a new drop in sink and installing it, or get fancy with silicon caulk.

Aluminum rings were made with a split because they could not be "welded" together. Either get a new sink or a stainless steel rim which is not split.

You might seal it with caulk or putty, but it would be less than professional looking, and the repair may or may not last. I would second (or third) the suggestion of a new sink with a stainless steel ring or one that requires no ring. The good news is, vanity sinks are not very costly and are quite simple to install. Pull the old one, measure the diameter of the hole, then go shopping.
