Pump Usage

I am having a 20 X 40 swimming pool put in and will need to fill it myself. The question I have is: Will filling the pool using my 1 1/2 hp submersible pump, hurt the pump? The pool has approximately 34,500 gal of water. Also, should I let the pump run continuously or let it cycle?

If you can turn on enough hoses to fill the pool so that the pump runs continuously, it won't hurt the pump a bit. It you let it cycle off and on, you are destroying the pump.
