dishwasher repair

i have a fridigeaire dishwasher and the soap door does not open during the wash cycle. i dont want to replace the washer over this. any help would be great. thanks, kevin
the model number is, MFDB421RFS4. i checked, the silverware holder is nowhere near toh soap holder.

Don't load silverware in front of the soap door!

If you can post the complete model number, we can look to see what kind of part...some kind of solenoid latch or something...is supposed to release that.

On the model I have its a fairly simple mechanism. The timer sends 120VAC to a heater that activates a bimetal strip tripping the latch. Very reliable! Figuring out that the silverware was leaning against the soap door stopping it from opening was a little more difficult. Training the wife was even tougher!:eek:
