Problem with flush

Hi everyone,

I am new to this DIY toilet problem. I have two toilet and one flushes fine, but the other one have a hard time flushing everything down. Sometime many flushes are needed to flush everything away.

Here is what happens. When I flush, the water fills the bowl probably 70-80 percent and it does create a spiral where the water flows down, but when the water is almost down to the bottom it stops and there is no flushing sound. It does not do the final push to clear everything up.

Is there something I am doing wrong or should I adjust something on my toilet. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You in advance.

Sounds like a restriction in the outflow path somewhere -- i.e., a clog.

How long has this been going on?
What kind of toilet is it?
Any small children in the house?
If so, are they missing any small toys or a kitten?

Simplest way out is to call a plumber and have him or her fix it.

Mikey gave the right answer to your problem. Somewhere there is a clog. The clog could be in the drain line or it could be in the toilet. In either case, do not try to clear it with chemicals. If the clog is in the drain line, it will need a professional plumber to snake the line. Don't kid yourself to think you can do this with a handyman's special snake. If it is a toy or other object caught in the toilet's trap, you can clear this yourself. There is a small device I believe is called a closet auger that sometimes will dislodge these things. If this doesn't work you will have to pull the toilet up to get at the underside.

This morning I actually use a mirror and a paper clip to clear some deposits on the inner lip of the toilet. I thought clearing this would increse the water flow into the toilet and make the flush stronger.

Then I use a coat hanger and jam it into the flushing hole. The hanger actually went in about 1 feet and I kept wiggling it around. After that I keep flusing my toilet and it seem to work like a charm.

I am getting enough water in the bowl and there is also the final flush to push everything away.
