we have a Grohe flush valve that seems to seat way too tightly for the pneumatic mechanism to lift it up. once in a while it is loose enough but in general unseating the valve requires that the lever arm that guides it be lifted manually every time - and this is an in-wall toilet. whole rig is just a few years old. has anybody seen this?

What you have is a "Grohedal" actuator for a wall hung toilet.
You can't buy this from Grohe it is sold under Grohedal for manufactures like Duarvit or Geberit in-wall hung toilets.
If you can find someone who carries Duravit in your area you can get parts for this.

The older models of the actuator is called the "Surf" if you try "Grohedal 37063" in a search it should show you pictures of the actuators.
