Hi,
I am installing a tile floor in the bathroom and found out about this forum from the tile forum. The existing flange is screwed into the wooden subfloor. It has a metal ring that supports the screws and the pvc flange sits on top of the ring (see pic). After looking at all the alternatives (flange extender, extra-thick wax ring, fluidmaster wax-free extender), I would like to raise the flange so that it is level with the new floor once the tile is in place. I think this will give the best results in the long run (do you agree?).
My plan is to cut the existing flange from the inside using my Dremel tool, then after the tile is installed, bond an extender and new flange to the pipe (3 in). However I am not sure where to cut since the flange quickly angles off (you can see how the blue cleaner drips off to the side).
Thanks for any suggestions.
