I used to have a double basin sink that had a garbage disposal running off the right basin (also connected to a DW). Below is a rough put-together of the assembly. *kicks herself for not taking a pic before tearing it down*

I am switching to a single basin sink (keeping DW and GD) but I am not quite sure of the piping that I will need to run off the garbage disposal now that I don't have the same double basin set-up

I would assume that I could use something similar to what I had before (minus the drain pipe off the left basin since it no longer exists) but I am not even sure that my pervious set up was correct. Any guidance? A diagram of a cut away single basin w/ GD would be fabulous!!

oh, cabinets are plenty deep enough to accommodate everything and the drain pipe runs down into the floor. Just tiled the Kitchen so I am trying to figure out where in the floor to drill the hole for the drain.

don't know if this helps, but here is a before shot of the pipe coming out of the floor and the position of the DW (which will remain the same).

Well the hole would have to go directly over the drain pipe under the floor...
Too bad having a plumber get rid of that old s-trap wasn't part of your kitchen remodeling job!

I had to remove the drain pipe under the floor all the way back to the main junction (since it was cracked in 2 places) so I am trying to figure where the best placement would be since that is getting replaced as well.

Could you explain further why you would remove the s-trap (and what you would replace it with)... I am still quite a newbie when it comes to plumbing:o

thanks

redwood, I never heard back as to why you would replace the s-trap (and with what).

Also does anyone have a diagram of the plumbing for a single basin sink with DW and GD set-up? it would be most helpful.

thanks Gary
can the DW drain go directly to the knock out on the GD? or does it have to loop somewhere to avoid having it back up?

Does anyone have a diagram? this newbie loves pictures to get a better grasp on things!

This is a double sink,
A single bowl uses the 90 el bend out of the disposer into the p-trap.
Some areas require an air gap between the dw and the disposer.
Some allow you to loop the hose as high as you can before entering the disposer.
