I am restoring a 1930's apartment bathroom and need a toilet that isn't too modern in appearance. It also has to be relatively small to fit in the alloted space.

To me, the best choice for looks is the Kohler "Kathryn" toilet, but after hearing so many bad things about Kohler toilets here I'm reluctant to go that route.

The Toto that is closest to this style is the "Guinevere" model, but it appears to have a plastic soft close seat. Does anyone know if Toto makes a heavier (i.e. like old style toilets) seat that would work on this model? If not, is this a standard shape/size that could be retrofitted with another manufacturer's seat?

I really dislike the modern lightweight seats, and ideally would like to have a heavier one with metal hinges at the back.

Thanks for the picture. Since the Toto seat is squared off at the back, will other brand elongated seats fit? Can I buy a Kohler elongated seat?

And if so, how do the hinges attach?

All seats in the USA fit on the same holes.
I've used Toto seats for Kohler, American Standard, Briggs, Eljer, ect.

By the same token, you can use any brand of seat on the Toto.
These Toto toilets are made in America,
Kohler may not be made in America, but the Toto Soiree and Guinevere are.
There are just a handful of people that make seats, and since all toilets come with the same drillings and seat dimensions, they all interchange.

Just two choices, Round or Elongated.

Like Terry said, the seat which comes with the toilet is actually pretty good - might want to try it a while. I really like the soft-close feature, and it is comfortable.

Terry, thanks for the advice. Exactly what I needed to know!
