I woke up this morning to find I had no water in my pipes. I can turn the pump breakers on and the pump runs, but again, no water. I have 26psi in the pressure tank. I should also add I have a sand point and I can see water in the casing, so my fear of no water was unfounded.
I do have much iron and rarely some flakes in the water, so at this point I am assuming my pump impellers are shot, since the pump runs when the breaker is on? It was quite warm in the pump house when I climbed down into it and the pump was very hot. Am I safe to assume the pump ran itself to this temp and I need a new jet pump? I can do this repair myself I am 99% certain. but I do need advice on any other things to look at before I 'convince' myself it's the pump.
Also, a friend of mine gave me advice to remove the cover to the relays and push down on them with a screwdriver and see if they kick the pump on or not. What will this tell me and will i get shocked? thank you for your time

If your not sure if you will get shocked or not, then the answer is yes you will.

If the Pump got that hot, the Impeller may be melted and/or the Pipes going to and from the Pump may be melted as well unless they are Galvanized or Copper.

What brand is the Pump?

The pump is a Meyers HR950 jet pump. I have someone coming out to check it out, and he is the same guy that worked on it last time when the renters left in the middle of winter. I do think the pump burned up, so it will be interesting to help him out tomorrow and see if I was right about where I started my journey into the world of plumbing after so many years.
The pipes are copper, btw. Thank you for your prompt attention. I'll let you know what else I find out. :-) mm
