Okay the terminology may not be all correct but hopefully my point is made. I installed 2 faucets. Murphy's law made it to where the first installation was flawless...GREAT. Now the second one is all bad. The problem is the hole on the pop-up that is in place for the rod with the ball leaks. I first had thought that there was no washer in there so I had purchased this plastic flat washer. Upon trying to fix it I see that there actually was a washer in there that was shaped like a cone so I doubled up the washer that was in there with the one that I purchased and it still leaked. What else can I do because I am out of ideas. I wanted to just replace the pop up drain with the one that came with the faucet but the bathroom pop up that exist has a Y to it that has a hose that my friend states is a condensation pipe for the air conditioner so I could not use the one provided. WHAT TO DO

Send a picture of both pop up drains.

Some pop-up drains have a gasket on one side of the ball. Some hava a gasket on both sides of the ball, and many use no gaskets at all. One thing sure, doubling up gaskets will always CAUSE a leak.

I suspect that your wye tailpiece has fine threads on top and screws into the pop up body. Many new drains will accept that pipe. The all-plastic, or so-called 50/50 drains will not.
