Hi,
I am going to be replumbing a house later this month(for my parents) i have worked with pex while building a new house and pvc for drains.
I have not worked directly with well systems mainly city supply.
My parents house is about 80 years old and i wil have about 4 days to gut out all the plumbing and update it. pex(supply) and pvc(drains) they have a well system currently with 1/2 hp shallow well pump(8 years old) and pressure tank(they dont even know how old it is or the last time it was tested). so later this month i am taking a trip to see if the tank is still pressurized. if not we will replace everything, suction lines, pump, tank. i have been reading about this cycle stop valve and see that it helps keeep a continuos pressure would it be smart to put one in? right now they have very very little pressure through the house(less than 12psi) leaks and pipe cracking.
I guess my biggest question is how do i figure what type pump and tank to use? they want 60 psi. was thinking a 1 hp wayne's pump with a pressure tank size of about 40 gal with the cycle stop valve (the current system comes on about 5 times in about 20 minutes with washer filling a shower running anda a toilet flushing)i think it would help prevent start stops of the pump.
what else do i need to think about when doing this project? any feedback is great!!!
thanks
